20 Week Scan

Thursday I had a Finediagonsticscan at a specialty clinic, I was referred by my OB because they have a better Ultrasound than she has and they do more thorough scans. And boy did they ever. He literally checked everything you can think of and everything is GREAT!

Best news yet though were that 1.) it´s a girl! and 2.) 98% clubfoot-free. I am so excited! Here we go pink footed jammies *YAY* :) Here are some Ultrasound pictures :)

A lot of peopel thought with this picture that there´s another Baby in there. HELL NO! Just one this time *hahahaha*

Yep that´s our baby girl. I still can´t believe it that we´re actually having a baby girl. That´s so crazy!

We´re having a hard time deciding on a name *lol* Well Jason has a hard time accepting my suggestion ;) But I´ll get my way for sure :)

Other than constant headaches this pregnancy is going well. I can´t complain. I have my regular doctors 20wk appointment coming up on friday. Since I will get another scan we´re going to take the boys with us because they´d like to see the baby as well :)

Tomorrow is the boys´ 4th birthday. I can´t believe it´s been four years already. That´s just nuts! Where does time go?!?!?!?!?! They´re so excited for their birthday. I hope they will like their presents. But I think so :)

Now we gotta get ready for our day. We have a couple Advent Basars to go to maybe we can find something christmassy and we also wanna hit up the mall and check out H&M maybe I can find some cute girl clothes :)

FINALLY we can make it official and announce to everyone that
Baby # 3 is on it´s way. His or her arrival should be around April 11, 2012.
Easter is on April 8th, maybe we get a little Easter-Baby :)

I will be 13 wks tomorrow and had my check up yesterday. Everything looks good so far. I go back in 3 1/2 wks and I´ll 16 wks then, maybe we can have a peek at the tootsies and see if the baby will have clubfoot or not.

In November we should be able to find out the sex. I am thinking pink of course but will be happy either way ;)

I am so excited!

Not much to report

Things have been pretty much the same as usual. Nothing special. How boring.

Jason is enjoying work so far. He´s been working quite a lot this month plus there´s been 3 holidays this month where he´ll get paid a full extra day for each holiday. So next months check will be sweet :)

He´s working 3rd Shift - so mostly 9.30p to 6 am. At first it was different being alone at night but I think I got used to it by now. It´s acutally nice having the bed all to myself, nobody snoring in my ear...Yea I think I like it that way for now :)

I had a job interview today. It went well I guess, hard to tell. 20hrs a week, Mo-Fr mostly 9a - 1p. Would work great for us. Brand new office, one Attorney and one more co-worker. A lot of responsibility and independent working, which I am missing now at my job.

Since he had more applicants it´s not sure how my chances are. I mean I am only back in the law field for a half a year where others prolly have more experience than me. Who knows. Maybe I am lucky and get the job. Sure would be nice, not far from where I live either :)
So I keep my fingers and toes crossed and hope for the best. But if not, than they´ll be other jobs, right? :)

And then there´s these two guys ....

Don´t they look all innocent and cute? Yes they´re sure cute but innocent ... oh nooooooo! They´re so much trouble lately. They dont listen well at all and it´s so frustrating. If it´s not going their way they have major fits like today because I wouldn´t give Caleb a sucker. He would not let it go and was crying over a sucker. Seriously. A flippin´ sucker. So he ended up going to bed - not that he went to sleep. He kept crying and screaming. It was pathetic. And did I mention that it´s quite frustrating? *sigh*

Connor´s been 90% potty trained. He only wears a diaper at night time. But he´s been less and less wet in the morning. So maybe soon we can try it again and go a night without a diaper. Yesterday he actually pooped on the potty. Oh boy was he proud - so was I :) We're getting there *yay*
Hopefully Caleb will show signs of interests SOON! So far no luck!

Otherwise things have been the same. Oh we´re soooooooooo boring *hahahhaha*

Couple of good news!

Well, no time no reading or writing here ;)

We had some news this last month/week happening ...

1st. Jason got a full time job at McDonalds. The owner gave Jason a chance. I was so happy that it didnt take a long time for him to find a job. Pay is okay, not the greatest but hey it pays bills and we´ll get off goverment assisting, so thats good :) Maybe we´re able to safe for a trip (or maybe a move back) to Dubuque. That´d be nice, I miss Nik and the boys and a bunch of other people :)

2nd good news is that Connor is about 90 % potty trained! He only needs a diaper at night and when he´s got to poop. Hes not ready for the Number 2 on the potty yet :) We started last friday and Monday we sent him to kindergarten without diapers and he had no accidents. He´s been doing good ever since. One or two little accidents here and there but overall he´s doing awesome! I am so proud :)

Caleb is not ready at all. I am hoping that once he sees Connor going, he wants too. So let keep our fingers crossed :)

Nothing else new here. Same old ... Unfortunately *haha*

Wishing everybody who might be reading this

Today is Good Friday and it´s a holiday over here in Germany. The weather is b.e.a.u.t.y.f.u.l., we already spend a decent amound of time outside today...just came back in to eat supper then returning to the garden :)

Easter Sunday we´ll be at my Moms because we´re celebrating my sisters gf birthday and then we´re spending the night there and Easter Monday (another holiday here we´re spending at my moms again.

Gotta grab the boys´ sandals tomorrow, poor kids have to wear their tennis in this warm weather. I really didnt expect it be that warm this early :)

Well time to get my fish cooking!

Used to be my favorite Christmas movie there is. Its hilarious and I love Will Farrell but I dont remember when it started but I believe Jason got sick and tired of watching the Polar Express on repeat so he introduced Elf to the twins. That was in December - before christmas.

It´s now a month past christmas and we still have to watch that damn movie at least once a day. Its so bad that we can speak along so can Caleb and Connor. Its terrible! *sigh*

Maybe I should try offer them a new movie huh? But they insist of watching Elf. Arggh!!

We´ll prolly be watching christmas movies in july *hahahaha*

...that´s what I´ve been :)

On January, 5th I started a job working 12hrs a week (not much but perfect right now since the boys dont go to kindergarten full-time) in an law firm. I went shadowing the 2nd and the 3rd and I immediately liked it there. The co-workers are nice and so are the attorneys. So far the works been easy and it all seems to come back from 6yrs ago when I was still working here for an attorney.

And its also nice to get out of the house :)

Now we gotta find Jason something. He´ll finish school in March and then we hope to find something for him. We´ll see :) Keep your fingers crossed! Thank you :)

Looking forward to Karneval

Here in Germany 'Karneval' is a big thing. Its almost like Halloween in America but its more funny rather than scary themed. Last year I had no clue what the boys could be dressed up in so I grabbed a black pants, gray shirt, a tail and some facepaint and they ended up being cats :) but this year the boys are all into fireman so we bought them their costumes early and they love it :)

Don´t they look cute?! Too bad Karneval is so far away yet, not til March, 7th. Bummer. But time´s been flying so I bet it´ll be here sooner than I think :)

I had a job interview today and I´d say it went well :)
I will go and work 2 days probation / trial on January 4th and 5th. I am excited :)
I hope it all will work out and they like me and I like them because I really would love to start work again!

I´ve had a flippin´ headache all weekend long, yesterday at its worse. Not even pain killers are working. It sucks. I have so much today around the house but I just don´t feel like it :( *sigh*

We´re suppose to get more snow. I am so sick of snow. Seriously. We had about a foot of snow just in the last couple of days. It´s ridiculous. It never snowed this much here. blah!

Can you tell my mood is awesome today?!

Oh well...I am gonna go and take a nap! Boys decided to get up at 5.30am today. We usually don´t get up until 7am. I don´t know what they were thinking! Argh!

It´s snowing AGAIN here in Germany. Seriously I´ve had about enough of that white stuff. I hope it last til christmas because everyone loves a white christmas but then it can stay out and not return the best would be never *urgh*

The boys love it of course :) Daddy not so much because he´s the one that has to go shovel outside. Nobody else in our apartment complex but the elderly people seem to care about the shoveling. It´s pretty annoying.

This is what our street looks like currently. It was all gone just a few days ago. It warmed up above 0 and melted all the snow but Sunday night the snow came back at full force. YaY...not!
We´re suppose to get LOTS more tomorrow. How fun....not!

So this is how I picked up the twins from kindergarten the other day :) They loved it. I might grab the sled today again and pick them up. It just sucks crossing the street with it. *lol*

In other news, I am on Day 4 taking 50mg Clomid. I really wanted to avoid Clomid this time around but it just doesnt seem to work without it. On Tuesday I am going get an Ultrasound done to check if any follicles were stimulated. Let´s hope for that but please let´s not hope for when it happens that it´s twins again. Not up for that ... Not at all!!!!! But I think positive, as long as it works and we can give the twins a baby brother/sister that´d be awesome. I really want to have one more child. A lot of people say I should be happy with the two I have but I really enjoyed being pregnant and I kinda got 'ripped off' being preggo once but having two babies, you know? So I´d love to go through all of it again. I loved it!

Who knows, maybe 2011 is our year as well because I know a bunch of people who will add to their family in 2011. We´ll see :)

Now it´s almost time to pick up the twins from kindergarten...I gotta sign them up for more hours next school year. Right now they only go 25hrs a week. I can bring them at 7.30a and pick them up at 12.30p but I bring them at 8.30a and pick them up at 12p. I would like to extend their hours to 35hrs you know just in case this whole preggo thing dont work out and I find work. I will be more flexible with the hours then :)

We´ll see but now I really gotta go :)

It´s the time of the year again, where all over Germany Kids will craft pretty lanterns and have a parade when its dark to show off the lanterns in honor of St. Martin. It´s really neat. I always enjoyed it being a child and now with the boys being almost 3 yrs old they did AWESOME holding the lanterns and walk around with the other kids from their kindergarten.

It was raining all day long and thank god, it stopped right before. It was perfect timing! We had a good time :-)

Jenna@Newlyweds want people to share pictures of their dirty kiddos with her ;) So she feels better about her little rugrats getting dirty all the time! I wish I could tell you Jenna, that my boys get dirty all the time too but I don´t let them get dirty much ;) I think I have a phobia of dirty children *lol* BUT there´s one time this summer where Connor just got plain ol´ dirty! I hated it but he had fun with his brother and their friend Marie. Just taking the dirt and rubbing it through their face. They loved it...Here´s the pictures :)

Oh how we enjoyed that day ;)

But since they been going to Kindergarten there sure been days when they came home filthy in my terms ;)

Slacking

Not much happening here. It´s getting cold *brrrr* It sucks. Oh well...

Twins kindergarten is going GREAT! I see so much improvements with them starting to talk more and be much more social. Thats exciting. The photographer came too a few weeks ago and the boys actually worked with them *yay*

We had our 3yr Well Child Visit on Tuesday (here they do them between 33-36months) and both of them are around 36lbs and about 3"1'. Connor is just a slight tad taller than Caleb.

Everything else is good with them too. Caleb´s better in building blocks and Connor is better in drawing. Yup yup ;)

There birthday is coming up next month and then it´ll be Christmas. Where did time go?!?!?! That´s nuts. We got the twins birthday gifts all done. I am so excited. We´re ahead of ourselves this year. Love it. :)

Now I am hungry and I gotta find myself something to eat! <3

Happy 1st Birthday Drew-Bean :)

My precious godchild/nephew turned 1 today. One year went by already. Sad thing only is that we´ve only met him once during the week went to visit Dubuque. I miss that munchkin!

He had a check up last week for his Neuroblastoma and he´s doing AWESOME! :) So happy for Drew! :)

Visitors from England

Today I´ve met my Great Aunt and my 2nd Cousins from England. They came to visit my granma so I used the oppertunity to speak some english :) I´ve heard a lot about them but never met them. I am really happy I went because all of them were so nice. And the twins were well behaved today!

Unfortunately I have no pictures to share. Maybe someday. One of the girls is on FB as well, so we plan on stay in touch. Maybe, just maybe, we´ll be able to go visit them someday. My Mom, my Aunt, Jason and the kiddos and of course myself. That´d be too cool :) But gotta save some money first :)

Wedding Day

On Saturday, the 21st, we went to our friends Jackys wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, beautiful service. They had a choire and a singer there. The choire sang the Sister Act song 'Follow him' ( I dont know if thats actually the name of the song) and it was awesome they way the sang it. I wish I would´ve recorded it. The singer sang 'Endless Love' and it was b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. Gave me goose bumps :)

The reception was really nice also and so was the foodl. Overall one of the best weddings I´ve ever been too! Here´s some pictures. She was such a pretty bride :)

There 1st dance was awesome. I wish I would´ve recorded that also. They started off with a slow song and then did Cotton Eyed Joe, Chicken Dance, Vanilla Ice, Can´t touch this and much more and ended it with the slow song again. It was a.w.e.s.o.m.e.! Great Idea!!!

1st day of Kindergarten

Last Monday was suppose to be the twins first day of Kindergarten but we had a little chickenpox or any kind of infection scare because Caleb started to have little spots on his face, hands, back and belly. So we had to take him to the pediatricians office first before we can send them off to kindergarten. He said it was nothing to worry about, probably just bites because of the areas where they´re at. So Tuesday they went off to kindergarten. *sigh*

They loved it. Not one tear shed and no problem letting go. We were suppose to stay a little while but we only had to stay 15min. and went home.

It was so quite at home. So we cleaned and I took a nap, since I had a headache that day. My Mom came at noon and we picked them up. They were ready to go home but were all excited to be there :) They couldnt wait to go back the next day!

All week´s been going well. Just little ol´ me is quite bored! But who cares about me ;P

Today we had a great day. We took off early to make our way to Düsseldorf Airport. Unfortunately not to leave the country by plane but to go watch Airplanes take off and land at the visitor patio and because the twins´ favorite Kids cartoon network had a thing going on there today and all the characters where there and a bunch of stuff.

Well not just us had this great idea of going there including all the passengers trying to catch their planes. I bet some of them where frustrated because there were SO MANY people and children. Nuts.

We never actually made it to the front stage where the Ki.Kanienchen (this bunny the twins love) would be because it was so packed. So we watched it from up on top of this bridge (I wish I would´ve took pictures but it was so busy I forgot *bummer*) for a little bit and then the twins were ready to go all by themselves and wanted to go see Airplanes. Well no problem :) Gladly will do that...They were so excited. It was great seeing their little faces light up seeing the big Jumbos take off and land!

We´ll definately will have to repeat that. Düsseldorf International Airport is not too far away. With the train it´s about 1hr 10min. And the twins also love their 'ChooChoo`s' :)

What a quincedence (how in the world do you spell that word?!??!) is it that today I decided that the twins could wear their Schalke 04 jersey (the soccer team we like) and hey they played today and WON. Woohooo! That was cool :)

Twins went to bed at 6.30pm today. They were pooped. So am I but I have a ton of laundry to fold yet and I think I bet get that done now otherwise it wont get done til tomorrow and tomorrow Caleb and I have to go to the doctors for his wart. So I better go now. :)

Connor´s 1st Haircut

We gave the twins hair cuts yesterday and this time it was Connors turn also. He needed it. It´s just way to hot outside having a head full of hair and curls. I was sad to cut his curls because I love them but I know he´ll feel better having shorter hair.

Caleb sat wonderfully and watch Bob the Builder on the laptop but Connor he was crying and saying it hurts *lol* He didnt settle down until I was done washing him off :)

Life will go on.

Trying to beat the heat. What the heck is wrong here in Germany?! We had an extreme winter and now an extreme summer. Suppose to get up to 100°F again this weekend. It makes living pretty rough not having an a/c. I feel miserable. Jason is miserable and by tomorrow so will the twins. Thank god for fans. They help a little. Fun fun....vent vent :)

Jason got his german test today. It´ll determine wether or not he has to continue german classes or is done. My fingers are crossed! We´ll know more in 3 weeks....

Well time to get ready and wait for my sister to come over!

World Cup 2010

Watching the World Cup 2010 Semifinale Germany : Spain right now.

I am anxious.

I want Germany to win of course, so they can enter the Finale on Sunday.

I DO NOT like suspence. And esp. not 90 minutes of it, eventually an extra 30 minutes OT and if that don´t do it´s a shoot out.

I get a bellyache real bad when the others come too close to our goal but it´s a big relieve when the ball won´t make it´s way into the goal.

It´s been since 1990 that Germany won the World Cup. This would mean so much! So my fingers are crossed and I hope for the best!

I truely miss our vehicle ... We sold it before we moved to Germany. Over here we decided not to buy a car because public transportation here is very good here and you get everywhere good without a car. BUT I´d love to have a car and I really miss driving. Today is just one of those days I wonder why...............

Flowers for Mommy

Today at the Mini Club, my boys made me some flower - well with a lot of my help.

Connor got most of the paint in his face than on the flowers ;) I am not patient for paint jobs with my children. That sucks :| But that´s just me!

Cute Idea though. I will miss the Mini Club but soon they´ll start kindergarten and I will get a ton of crafty stuff send home with them :)

Dual-Citizenship

Their US Passports came in the Mail today!
It only took a week. That was fast, since they told us 2-3 weeks *yay*

Finally summer ...

I believe summer is finally here :) We´ve been waiting a long time for it to be nice. So yesterday we spend all day in our yard since we´ve fixed it up. Nothing fancy though. All I need is a grass area and we have a part that´s all bricks. I don´t need no flowers etc. I got two brown - very brown - thumps :) Jason also.

It was really hot and we didnt really have shade. The boys have a little umbrella by they sandbox so they were in the shade. I layed a blanket down and sat by them so I´d be in the shade :)

Today my mom and I are gonna go and look for an umbrella and a table. Oh and a pool for the twins, since it´s suppose to get even warmer. We´ll see what we can find....

I don´t know why Caleb always have to squint his eyes when he says cheese. I can never get a good picture :|

Playing in their too small sandbox. My sister and I wanna build the twins a big one. Unless I find a nice one later.

It sure was a nice day. Today I dont feel like doing much. Twins are going to take a nap today. They been up since 6am. Hopefully it´ll go smooth :)

On Wednesday we had to go to Frankfurt to the US Embassy to apply for the twins´ american passports. Our appointments were at 8.15am and we waited forever it felt like. The acutal appointment only took a few minutes. Their passports should arrive in the mail in 2-3 weeks :)

Afterwards we went shopping in downtown Frankfurt. They had a humangos mall there. And a Hollister. My sister was in heaven :) I didnt feel like shopping...Too expensive down there. That was a nice day too :)

Well naptime is right around the corner...I better get going :)

Been miserable with a cold the last few days. Poor twins couldn´t go to toddler gym or mini club today because Mommy is just not feeling like going...Wish that tooth and ear ache would stop, that would make things a lot easier *Whine*

Hope tomorrow is a better day!

My sister bought these stupid annoying firetrucks yesterday. Did I mention they were stupid and annoying? Out of all the toys at the store, my kids pick the fire truck that makes the most noise *urgh*

That doesn´t help my recovery ;)

A side note on my little munchkin Drew! He´s doing wonderful. He´s getting his port taken out on Wednesday! That´s how great he´s doing!!!!! We´re excited!

A couple weeks ago we had a bbq at my mom´s house. Don´t they just look yummy :)

We also have been working hard in our own garden to get it ready for the summer. Last week on monday my mom came over and we ripped out everything and put up the swing set. We took a bunch of trips to the land fill that´s how much stuff we had. Doing this gardening work made me realize one more time that it´s not for me hahaha
My mom´s hubby put down some grass seeds on some of the spots but them damn birds keep eating them, so I wonder if we´ll ever get more grass haha

Now all we´re missing is a new sandbox. The one I am looking at is on sale right now but all sold out. So I wonder if it´ll be back in stock soon. Would be awesome!

Okay enough now....Gotta go back and whine some more to myself because nobody else is here to listen but the twins but they dont understand haha

Fun at the gym....

Mondays we go to toddler gym, some days the twins love it, other days they just don´t like to participate. Last monday was alright and they liked the stuff they build :) Jason made a video so here it is :)

At the end of the gym they always use the mat wagon to pretend it´s a train and the twins LOVE it! They always make sure they´re the first ones on it! :)

Last week we bought us a new clippers so Jason can buzz his head again. Caleb has been in need of a haircut BADLY! He refuses to let me take him to a salon. He will break out in a terrible tantrum. The lady that comes to my moms house just simply sucks, so I just let it grow. What else was I suppose to do. So today my sister and I decided it´s time for that haircut and we grabbed the clippers sat Caleb by the kitchen table, gave him the laptop to watch stuff on youtube and a chocolate bunny and we started to clip his hair :)

He was very cooperative, I was more freaking out than he was. But things turned out well...I am glad :)

Calebs Clubfeet Journey

Today I was thinking that I should write about Caleb's bilateral Clubfeet. I never really wrote about it so I thought it's about time :)

We didn't find out about his clubfeet until Caleb was born. Usually in all cases CF is diagnosed inutero but since Caleb's feet were stuck in my pelvis, the ultrasound tech was never able to find anything wrong. So after the twins were born Dr. Bagby came into my room after the newborn exam and told me that his feet were 'crooked'. Since Caleb was in the NICU due to breathing issues, I was not concerned about the feet more that he gets out of the NICU soon! Dr. Bagby referred us to an Orthopedic Surgeon and they called while still in the hospital to set up an appointment with us. The word 'Clubfoot' was never mentioned yet! I believe the first time I looked at his feet was the day he came out of the NICU @ day 3 and was in the room with me. It still didn't bother me.

A week later we seen the orthopedic surgeon and he thought with 4 weeks of massages the feet should straighten itself out. He showed me how they work and off we went. Still no word about Clubfeet. He mentioned castings though but that's about it. So at every diaper change we did these massages and 4 weeks later we went back and he looked at his feet and he referred us to Iowa City. It looks like Clubfeet and we should let the pro's fix it. He was talking about Ponseti etc. I still had no idea what he was talking about. All I was thinking was that we just wasted 4 weeks of his life doing these stretches, he should've referred us to Iowa City from the beginning, or somebody should've mentioned Clubfoot to me before and I would've done a self-referral but nope, nobody said a word to me until that day. I don't remember how I was feeling but I was anxiously waiting for Iowa City to call and set up with an appointment. This was on Dec, 27th 2007. Our appointment in Iowa City was Jan, 16 2008.

Calebs last 'real' bath for awhile

To this day I don't know, why I never googled Clubfeet. I guess I was just way too busy with newborn twins at home. Thinking about it, back then I didn't even have Facebook. :)

So the day before Calebs appointment with Dr. Dietz in Iowa City I gave Caleb his last bath and off early in the morning we went. We took Connor with us as well. Iowa City is about an hour and half drive from Dubuque. We arrived at the UIHC and made our way to find registration, elevators etc. Wow, I was confused but we made it to the Clubfoot Clinic on time :) People there were so nice and welcoming. You instantly feel warm and welcome there! We sure fell in love with Nicole right away and Connor stole her heart. She wanted to hold him all the time and was excited when we'd bring him back to the appointments :)

So here we were, waiting for Dr. Dietz. His Resident came in first and checked out Calebs feet and also Connors, since they were twins. After a little bit of more waiting Dr. Dietz came in. He was very nice and I knew that we were at the right place to get his little feet taken care of! He checked his feet and explained EVERYTHING to us. He explained that Clubfoot is a genetic disease and asked us if we knew anybody with clubfeet in the family. Since there's nothing on mine we came to the conclusion that it had to be inheritated from Jason. He wore casts when he was little but they told him that he was pigeon toed. So that's probably the cause. Dr. Dietz told us the plan of care. We'd cast him now and then return in 7 days for a new cast and then another 7 days until like 5-7 casts. Then he'd have a tenotomy (a little snip of the achillis tendon) and then another cast for 3 weeks and then brace wear. He told us how import brace wear is and that if you DO NOT comply with it the risk of relapse is pretty high! So after a long talk we were off to the casting room.

I gave Caleb a bottle to calm him down and he was comfy through the whole casting procedure. Dr. Dietz explained to me that Calebs feet look very atypical since his feet were chubby and stuff. He told us that we'd come back in 7 days for a cast change but he was not there since he was on a meeting to teach other doctors about the Ponseti method, so we'd see Dr. Morcuende. So off to go home we went, with a baby that had two huge casts on his feet.

The first diaper change was a challenge. The second diaper change was a challenge. I was overwhelmed. I had 6 week old twins boys at home and one of them had two full leg casts on. I don't know how I did it but I guess I just pulled through. I finally sought for help online. I found this great online support group nosurgery4clubfoot and the girls there were wonderful and helped me out whenever I had a question. Once we had our first blow out diaper I was wondering what you could do to help keep the cast clean, since you have it on for 7 days. The girls suggested men socks. What a great Idea! Eventually I bought these Chicago bears boy socks in a size 7-8 and the fit perfect and you bearly noticed that Caleb was wearing casts. Thank godness it was winter time so whenever we were out and about Caleb was in his car seat covered, so people never got a chance to asked questions on why he was wearing casts. Clothing was an issue. We had a lot of double outfits and sleepers with feet so we had to go out and find some footless sleepers and I also had a great co worker DeeDee who cut off some of the feet of other sleepers so Caleb had something to wear :)

I have to say that Caleb adjusted very well to wearing casts and he was kicking his feet at the first day of casting.

So a week later we came back to Iowa City. We were suppose to see Dr. Morcuende but we were honored by seeing the great Dr. Ponseti. The inventor of the nonsurgical method of treating clubfeet. Such a gentle and caring old man. 92 years old. Can you imagine???? Oh I loved him from the moment we met him. I was so proud that Caleb was his patient. We made sure to get a picture with him. We heard a lot!

Dr. Ponseti looked at his feet very, very thorough and he said that his feet already looked good. He thought 3-4 casts and he's good.

So we went to the casting room again and Dr. Ponseti and a resident applied the casts. He thought the resident how to do the casting and how to keep the foot stretched. He was amazing. He told us to come back in 5 days for a cast change. I was confused because Dr. Dietz told us 7 days but Dr. Ponseti said it'll be quicker if we'd do 5 days. I mean he's the man, he knows what he's talking about. So back in 5 days it was.

Back we were he feet kept looking better and better. We seen Dr. Ponseti again. We felt so honored to be now his official patient! Dr. Ponseti told us that Caleb is ready after this next cast for his tenotomy. The cut of the Achilles tendon. He explained everything and put cast # 3 on.

We returned on Feb, 1at 2008 (remember treatment only started on Jan, 16th!) for his Tenatomy, the cut of the Achilles tendon. It's done locally only. After the 3rd cast came off, Dr. Ponseti came in to look at his feet and they looked great already. Prints of his feet for his brace were made.

Then Dr. Morcuende came in to let us know that he was ready for the procedure. Off we went into the other room. Jason stayed in the room with Connor. So Caleb's feet were prepped. I had a bottle and binkie ready. Dr. Morcuende put some local anesthesia on the spot to be cut and then it got disinfected and then he clipped the Achilles tendon with this tiny tiny scalpel. Caleb was SCREAMING and crying. I felt so bad. I will never forget this look in his eyes when he was looking at me kinda like "Mommy why do you let them do that, help me". It was horrible. :( After the procedure new - and LAST - cast got put on. He was sobbing. Poor baby :(

We had to return back in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Caleb still was sobbing. When we returned to Jason, he asked me if that was Caleb screaming, he could hear him all the way 7 rooms down. Nuts. Off we went. Caleb was still sobbing all the way until we hit the highway then he fell asleep. We made sure we'd give him plenty of Tylenol to keep him comfy. The doctors had said though that it wouldn't hurt too much afterwards. He pretty much slept the whole day and night because he was so exhausted. After that he was fine, didn't seem to be in pain. In the meantime blood started to come through the cast.

But they had told me that it'll happen, so not a big scare for me. My mom though thought it was horrible to see. The next 3 weeks he did fine - just like the other weeks before.

On Feb. 20th we returned to Iowa City for cast removal and brace fitting. His feet looked great - again :)

Dr. Ponseti was very happy. Maria (the greatest nurse on earth!) explained the brace to me and showed me how to put on the shoe. After that we were off and wouldn't have to return for 3 months. Calebs brace protocol went like this 22/7 for 6 weeks...then 20/7 until 3 weeks before return appointment then 18/7.

We returned in May for the first time after getting into the brace. We never really had any issues since we got them. That's good. Dr. Ponseti lowered the bracewearing time to 16/7 but I could keep them on longer if I wanted to. Of course I did.

We didn't have to return until September and then December. By December Dr. Ponseti stopped seeing Patients due to health issues, so our main doctor would be Dr. Morcuende. We loved him as well. When we asked about Dr. P he said he should be in the office today and as we talked there he was. Let me tell you this doctor is 94 (at the time) years old and still remembered Caleb when he came in! He looked at the feet and we took pictures with him - since it probably was our last time seeing him. We told him that we're moving to Germany in March and he referred us Doctors over here that are very good in the Ponseti method. He such a great person. I miss him!

We returned one more time before leaving in March, only because I was worried about Caleb's feet but false alarm :) His feet looked great. We said our good byes to Dr. Morcuende, Maria and Nicole. We were told whenever we have a problem to send an email. They're so nice. We even left with a new pair of shoes plus a bigger size up. :)

Now we're here in Germany and I have to say I have nothing to complain about the care for Calebs feet at the Doctors we're seeing. They're good. It's a different one then the one that we were referred to but that one is 8 hours roundtrip away from us and I was emailing with him asking if he could suggest anybody closer to our area. He sure did and that's where we went. At our first appointment the doc was like so amazed when I told him that Caleb was treated by Dr. Ponseti. :) Our last appointment was in December and his feet still look great! I am happy that we're on track and that it doesn't seem like he'll be relapsing anytime soon.
Caleb will have to continue wearing the brace only at night time until his 5 years old. So less than 3 years! That's manageable! :)

Unfortunately, last year October the great Dr. Ponseti passed away due to a stroke. He was such a great person. Oh he is so missed! I am happy and proud to say that this great person fixed my sons feet. :)

Some days I wonder if we had another baby, if this one will be born with Clubfeet too? I mean I wouldn't have a problem with that. We've been through one child with it, I sure could handle having another one, now that I know what the right treatment is etc. I would even go back to Iowa to get it treated. They are the best at it!!!

Now, Caleb is a happy 2 year old with perfect feet and a true Ponseti Miracle :)

Our first year is up....Another one to come....Things to archive this year like the twins starting Kindergarten and Jason finishing up school in the summer. Hopefully we both will find a JOB and things will get better!

I DO miss A LOT of things and people VERY much. Every single day I think about it but I need to accept that we are living here now and I know SOMEDAY we will return but we don't know yet when that's gonna be. Til then I will continue to miss Nicole, TJ, Dakota, Dylan, Drew, Rachel, Evan, JLo, DeeDee, Connie and others dearly but I hope they know that I think about them a lot! Love you guys! <3>

These two boys are going to be kindergartners after this summer.

Kindergarten over here in Germany starts at 3years old, so it´s equalivant to pre-school in the USA, I´d say. Maybe you´re thinking 'Hmm, the twins are not 3 yet, they just turned 2?!' Last year they started a new program where under 3 year olds can be enrolled into Kindergarten but spots are limited. And eventough I was absolutely certain that we wouldn´t get a spot but we did! I am so happy and can´t wait! The Kindergarten is right across the street so it´ll be nice! Gotta go overthere after Jason gets home and fill out some forms.

I signed them up from 7.30a to 12.30p so hopefully within this timeline I can find a part time job. That´d be lovely. But one thing at a time. I bet it´ll be hard letting them go! But I got a little bit time yet :)

Repeat 2 Year Well Visit

Yesterday my mom and I took the twins for the repeat 2year well visit at the new doctors office, since I was not satisfied with the one they did at the old office. This one went so much better and it was so much different than the other one. The new Dr. took so much more time evaluating each of them. The other one didn´t do that at all. He had them stack blocks, empty out a little jar with raisins and put them back in and they had to point/name objects mainly animals. They did very good at everything. Caleb put the blocks together better than Connor, and Connor named the animals more clear than Caleb.

The Doctor is not worried about them not talking talking yet. He said as long as they understand when I tell them to do something and they tell me something and I understand what they mean that´s good. So I am happy about that.

He noticed with Caleb that he´s very antsy. He said it´s nothing to worry about YET but if this continues once he´s 3-4 years old then you gotta be more concerend. So right now we´re just keeping an eye on him. It´s not that he can´t focus on something at all and moves on to something different fast, he loves building with his duplos and he can do that for a longer period of time but sitting and watching a movie or just on the couch is a problem for him. He is busy all the time. So hopefully this is just something NOW and he´ll be more 'relaxed' or something in the future. :)

He also mentioned limiting TV time. I know this BUT I myself need to have the TV running in the background otherwise I am going nuts. I always been like that and I don´t know how to break that. It´s not like the twins actually 'watch' a lot of tv, it´s just on all the time but they don´t pay attention. You know what I mean? Anybody got any tips on that issue?

Otherwise everything was good and we have to healthy 2 year olds on our hands hehe

Did you stick with family names? Only with the middle names. Each of them have one of their dads name as the middle name. Caleb JASON and Connor STEVEN
How do you feel about "matchy" names? I guess I´d say I like it 'matchy'. Caleb & Connor sound matchy too me. I always like Nicholas for a name too BUT I never thought Caleb (or Connor) would match with Nicholas so we stuck with the matchy C´s :)
Did you worry about their names "coordinating?"Hmmmm....I am not sure to be honest :)
Did you name your babies before you met them, or wait until you saw them to assign names? We named them before we met them. At our 24 week ultrasound when the doctor told us that we´re having 2 boys, I knew it right then that we´d have a Caleb and a Connor
What were your second choices? No second choices as for boys names but if we would´ve had two girls our names were gonna be Mackenzie & Mckenna (my next babies name is gonna be Mackenzie for sure hehe) and for boy/girl i liked Hayden & Hayleigh

Not So Wordless Wednesday

Today's post is about my little sweetpie and godchild Drew! Drew is almost 4 1/2 months old now and he's gone through so much! This last week little munchkin needed two blood transfusions and one platelate transfusion. His last chemo was on Dec, 31st. He's going back for a CT scan tomorrow (1/14)! We are hoping and praying, that the size of his liver shrunk or stayed the same! Hopefully it shrunk! We're praying that it didn't spread! He's a trooper and I know that his CT scan will come back GOOD!

Please pray for my godchild that his CT will go great!

NieNie - People may know NieNie. Her name is Stephanie and she and her hubby Mr. Nielson were in a terrible plane crash in Arizona in 2008. A very inspiring story on how she became a mother 'again' after being in a 2month coma and in the hospital for a long time. Telling her readers her daily life struggles having over 80% of her body being burned but trying to take care of her children. She's amazing! Please pray for her right now as she's undergoing more surgery at this moment!
Veiyah's Story - Little Miss Veiyah is a heart baby from Iowa. They live not too far away from where I lived in Iowa. Veiyah has an angel twin sister. Unfortunately, she passed away in-utero. Veiyah was born premature and with a heart defect. She underwent a lot of heart surgery in Iowa City in her first year of life! She's such a strong 1 year old and that amazes me! That's why I love following her blog. Her mom hasn't updated in awhile so I hope things with her are good <3

Karneval

Next month we have Karneval season here in Germany. I guess you can compare it too Mardi Gras, maybe. I always say it´s the opposite of Halloween because you dress in funny costumes and party :) This will be our first Karneval in Germany with the twins. I remember always having a fun time when I was a little girl. We went to this place that hosting a kiddie karneval every year and they still do, soooo that´s where we´ll take the twins. Nice tradition to keep going :)

So now I have to think about as what I could dress the twins up. Well, this following picture is 'Pumuckel', a cartoon charactar from way back. I even used to watch it as a little girl and the twins like watching it too. My Aunt gave me the idea to dress him one up as him. Connor would look totally cute being Pumuckel with all his curly hair sprayed in red and red cheeks and a red nose. Cute.

But what am I going to do with Caleb? Debating if I should dress him up as Pumuckel too OR just dress both up as fire fighters. Because we found a costume the other day at the store and Connor wanted to put it on on the spot :) I am very indecisive right now. Hope I can make up my mind early enough haha

I am looking really forward to Karneval with the twins. It´s been forever since I been to that place and I always enjoyed myself there. Crazy, now I take my own children :)

It snowed AGAIN! I tell you, I don't ever remember it snowing this much when I was younger. It's crazy. I always told Jason and others that we don't get much snow, maybe a day or two and well this now is our like 5th snow day. Crazy.

So today we took the twins outside with their sled. They loved it and had a blast. I am suprised they sat on it the whole time! It was freezing cold though...Well I actually wasn't that cold because after living in Iowa for 5 yrs where temps go way below zero, this is nothing :) We had fun today. When we came back home I made hot cocoa...Yummy :)

Jason's first New Years in Germany 2009/2010

We had a fun time spending New Years Eve with my family at my Mom's house. It was fun and we ate a lot of food. *yum* A lot of liqour was drank and lots of laughter was shared.

At 11.59p we had the traditional countdown and champagne and hugs and new years wishes at midnight and afterwards we went outside for some fireworks. The church bells were going off for at least 15mins and everbody was outside doing fireworks. We caught some on video...This was Jason's first New Years in Germany and I have to say he truely enjoyed it :)

The last week....

Last week we had our first snow of the season and it stuck to the ground. It even snowed over the a few days. Crazy, because I always told Jason that it might snows here a day or two and not more and it'll melt right away. Nope not this time. It stayed around for a few days. So we packed up the twins and went outside and let them play in their first (well actually second) snow :) The loved it!

Last week we also FINALLY baked a ton of cookies. We wanted to make cut out cookies but nobody hat cut outs for us to borrow so we made spritz gebaeck. It was fun to make. But I sure am not a baker and glad I don't have to bake for another year :)

My sister always come over on her lunch breaks because since they moved it's further away now for her to go home so instead she spends a couple hours here with us. The twins love her! On Wednesday Connor decided he wanted to be dressed like Aunt Ka (that's what they call her, her name is Franziska), so my sister put her stuff on him and that's what he looked like

Isn't he just cute???? Gosh I love this kid!

Well then came Christmas. Our first Christmas in Germany. Our first Christmas with the twins knowing who Santa is. I loved it! We've been watching 'The Polar Express' a million times before Christmas. They are in love with this movie esp. Connor. It has a Choo Choo and Santa in it. Their most favorite things! So that movie was kinda on a repeat in our home.

Christmas Eve we spend at my moms house together with my sister, her boyfriend and my grandma. It was a lot of fun. We had a turkey for dinner and a cake for desert! Delicious!

After dinner we opened up presents. Of course we let the twins open up their presents first. Both sat on the couch and enjoyed the attention.

The first present was little toys from Bob the Builder. They love Bob the Builder!

They got to open more trucks, books and clothes but the biggest one of the night was this giraffe bicycle thing from my sister. The love this thing. She might've should've gotten two but we are working on sharing.

After we all opened our presents my aunt came over and the twins got another present to open. We stayed late and it was hard to entertain tired children. So we grabbed out my sisters laptop and watched 'ChooCoo aka Thomas the train' on youtube.

Connor seen me using my chapstick so he threw a fit until I gave it to him. So he walked around putting chapstick on his lips and made sure that Caleb would get his share also. He's so caring when he wanna be :)

We got home at 11pm and the twins went straight to bed because you know Santa wasn't going to stop until they were in bed :) The fell asleep right away. No fighting. I thought though we'd get to sleep in BUT they were up at 8am. Usually they sleep 7p - 7a :) So we started open up Santas gifts. They got Spongebob Tshirts, a street carpet, candy, a fisher price firetruck and airplane, doodle pads and books. Santa must've thought they been good boys :)

After opening presents the twins wanted to watch 'The Polar Express' AGAIN... Oh yay fun. Of course they can watch it before I have to listen to a major fit!!!!

In the afternoon we were waiting to get picked up to go back to my moms house. We had a roast and potatoe salad for super. It was so yummy. This is what it looks like when we're waiting to get picked up :)

I have to say we had a really nice christmas! I can't complain. We did miss some of our family back in Dubuque but what can you do. We'll see them soon again, I hope!

Now we're off into a new year. Can you believe that the year is almost over????!!! It's crazy. I am going to turn 28 in March. Argh! I am getting old. I have a doctors appointment coming up Jan, 7th and hopefully this OB/Gyn will precribe me Metformin without sending me to a Reproductive Specalist first. It'd be nice to maybe get pregnant in 2010. Who knows....It's on the list haha

Today I was at a friends birthday. They had yummy cake and pizza in the evening for supper. Now my belly hurts. I need to go to bed because I am pooped. Haven't had nap in a couple days.

So today I took Mr. Caleb to the doctors because he's been hitting his ears like they hurt. I thought since it's saturday tomorrow I might as well take him in before it is something serious and need attention.

I tried to get ahold of our 'old' pediatricians office but as usual you don't get through. It was Friday 3.30pm they're probably PACKED as usual! So I decided I give this other peds office a call that some of my friends told me about and see if we could get in there and it was NO PROBLEM. My Mom came and picked us up and we got right in. The receptionist and nurse were really nice. A nice looking office and the room wasn't as claustrophobic as at the olds peds office. They even had books and puzzles to keep Caleb busy until the Doctor came. When he came in Caleb started to freak out (he sure hates doctor offices) but calmed down fast once he seen that his stetoscope had a Santa Clause on it :) He got checked out and then the Doctor explained us on a picture what's up with his ears. He got fluid behind his ear drums. So nothing to worry yet. The doctor was so nice and explained everything to us. I also showed him the wart Caleb has on his thumb and told him that he started to bite it. So now we got a lotion to put on it to see if it goes away on it's own. So we'll see about that.

Before we left I asked the nurse about switching offices and she said it should be no problem. So we go back Jan, 14 for a repeat well visit for the twins. I am glad I made this switch :)

It's snowing in Germany :) I love snow! Gonna take the twins outside tomorrow after our trip to the mall and let them play and hopefully we'll have enough snow yet so we can use our sled. Too bad my camera is crap and has issues taking pictures. So this following picture is courtesy of my sister :)

Getting to be pretty white out there :) I wish I had snow boots for the twins but I don't. I didn't expect it to snow this early *lol* So hopefully they'll be fine in their 'normal' footwear :)My Mom will probably go crazy if she finds out...

A Job.....

...is what I need badly!

I need to get away for a few hours a day. Away from the hubby, away from the twins!

I found this job offer on our workforce homepage and it would be PERFECT! TOO perfect, I´d say. Easy to reach by puplic transportation since we don´t own a car yet over here. 3 to 4 times a week from 4.30p to 7.30p as a legal secretary. They also welcome applicants who have been out of the job for awhile. It just sounds too good, you know?!

Application is by email only. SO that means I need all my certifications, graduation papers and letters of recommendations scanned BUT I don´t own a scanner. So I called up my Mom´s friends husband and he said he´d do that for me. So I will drop the papers off later today when I am out with my Mom. A resume is no problem. My Sister will send me mine later, since it´s on her computer. I also will need to take a picture - over here in Germany you need to include a passportpicture to your resume.

Hopefully the position is still available.

It would just be too good to be true.

Update on Drew

Drew went into surgery today for a lung biopsy and a port placement.

He had another Full Body Scan on Monday and they found a few small spots on his lung. So he had to go get a biopsy done to make sure that this 1% chance of the cancer spreading is not the case! We should get results in a couple of days. He also got a port put in and they will start chemo in a few days. Right now he's recovering and doing okay.

We got to do webcam for a moment to see him. Oh I felt so bad. He's such a tough cookie! I wish NO child would ever have to go through this all esp. not my godchild! Hope he'll be better soon!

Well, Mr. Drew-STAR needs to have chemotherapy starting on monday :(

Unfortunately, the benign tumor in his liver is growing instead of going away. His belly measures 50cm right now :( He had another CT Scan yesterday and unfortunately those were the news we all received. We're hoping that this low dose of chemo will shrink the tumor and help it to go 'away'!!!! If it's not working that way then he'll will have to have chemo for over a year I guess but that's way out in the open yet. So please help me pray for my precious godchild Drew and his Mommy, Daddy and Brothers!!!! We love you Drew!

At a time like this I wish we would've never moved away or be able to go back to help Nikki and TJ to go through this and help out with the Boys! But nobody knew that this was gonna happen. :( I just hope they know that we're with them by heart and if we can do anything from over here we'll do it!

The Christmas Tree....

So, let me tell you about our this years Christmas Tree....I don't like it and SO FAR it has NOT put me into Christmas mood. I woke up this morning and when I walked into our living room, I had to laugh and thought "Geez this tree is pathatic, it's 1/3 of the tree what we used to have when we live in Dubuque."

You know, we just moved to Germany back in March and I really never gave it a thought until now about the Christmas tree and when I mentioned it to my Mom and my Aunt, my Aunt said that my cousin got one and he doesn't want it no more so we could have it. It's for FREE. So yesterday she brought it to my Mom's house and we took it home with us. When I set it up my first thought was "You got to be kidding me?! Can this be any smaller?!?!" I called my Mom complaining. She said just to use it for this year so we don't have to buy a new one right now and then go ahead and buy a tree on sale after Christmas is over. A point there. Jason and I talked it out and we decided to keep this poor fella. I put lights on it and decorated it with the bulps my Aunt gave me. I like the white ones but not the red ones. So this week we gotta go out and get some red ones to exchange and I need to buy a BIG OL' bow to put on top! I love bows. Every year I had one on mine in Dubuque. That's kind of our tree topper :)

So this is what the tree looks like decorated....still a little pathetic but I keep telling myself "Suck it up and deal with it Kay"....

My Aunt also gave me this tray to put on candles and deco for Advent. You know, here in Germany we do Advent. Every Sunday, starting today, you light a candle. It's the 4 Sundays before Christmas. So when Candle #4 is lit, Christmas is right around the corner. I thought it turned out not too bad. I wanna get a couple Cinnamon Sticks and pine cones to add to it. So next week is a shopping day for me :)

I can't believe christmas is almost here. That means it's getting to be close to a year we're leaving in Germany already. How time flies. It's crazy. I will miss celebrating Christmas with TJ, Nikki and the boys. I guess, Jason's family won't do Christmas this year like we use to do it, gift exchanging etc. .... Issues over there and you know what I am GLAD we're not there! I just wish I could be there to help out Nikki for babysitting. *Sigh*

Tomorrow we have gym again - I hope it's not pouring raining again so we can make our way there and not get soaked. On Tuesday Caleb got a clubfoot follow up appointment at 9am - we'll see how long our wait will be this time - At 1pm the hair stylist comes to color my hair, cut caleb and my mom's hair and at 2.45pm we have gym again and this time St. Nick will come and watch :) That's should be fun - if Connor behaves We'll see....

Soooo I am off now to get laundry put away. Twins shouldn't be home until later this afternoon.

I tried to get my blog into a little Christmas spirit :) I guess it looks fine for now. I had to use an "old" christmas picture of the twins (only 2 yrs old haha) because we haven't attempted a new one yet but we're going to try in the next couple of weeks. First try will be tonight at my mom's, she got her christmas deco all up so we have something to work with. So maybe you can look forward to some christmasy pictures of Caleb and Connor. They're are spending the weekend with my Mom. It was so nice to sleep in today. I miss sleeping in :) But I LOVE waking up in the morning to hear Caleb and Connor calling for Mama once they hear me and give hugs and kisses when they get taken out of bed. This is so much more worth it then sleeping in!

I am planning to do another post later on but right now I gotta go and get cleaning while the twins are not here :) Oh joy

Today is one of those days where you just want to crawl back under the cover and go back to sleep. Too bad I can not do that because no way the twins would let me :) bummer. It's been pouring all night and so far all morning. Oh the joys of living in Germany. Rain, Rain, Rain....I sure didn't miss that at all. I sure do prefer the amounts of snow Dubuque would get but rain....urgh hate it!

But like I always say ... I made this decision, now I gotta deal with it!

So, you know Connor got these BAD temper tantrum and I mean BAD. If he doesn't get his way ANYWHERE we go he gets these shaking attacks and if he's not in his stroller he'll drop to the ground and bang his head on the ground. I have no idea how to break this habit. But it sure is taking it's toll on me. I don't like to go anywhere with him. I can't go shopping. We can't even go to the gym without him throwing fits. It's embarrassing. I made the decision that if he acts out one more time at the gym, it will be his last time going for awhile. Maybe he'll understand somehow that what he's doing is not right. Any tips for me what I can do?!

Oh it's so frustrating.

It all doesn't help, that I am homesick to Dubuque. I wish I could get over that feeling...

Update on Mr. Drew

This is my bad but I never gave an update on my godchild / nephew Drew and his cancer diagnosis. Well, he's doing good :) So far every test they did on him CT/Bone Scans, Bone Marrow testing came back a BIG FAT NEGATIVE :)))) The only results they are waiting for is the BIG one "What stage cancer is it?!". My SIL and BIL are suppose to get those results any day now - hopefully today :) So I bet ya he's in for another good result :) The best result possible would mean he only will have to go back for 3 months check ups to see if the tumor is going away on it's own. Intermediate Risk would mean Chemo and High Risk = a Bone Marrow Transplant. But everyone incl. doctors are talking that he's at low risk! So please continue praying for my little munchkin! He's such a trooper for doing sooooo good and recovering from major surgery so well! <3

Cancer SUCKS!

I wrote yesterday, that my precious godchild/nephew Drew was found to have an enlarged liver at his 2 months Well Baby Check.

Yesterday they did a CAT Scan and found a tumor :( He was then diagnosed with NEUROBLASTOMA, cancerous cells that already spread to his liver. :( We haven't talked to Nikki much yesterday but I believe she said that it was stage IV - already. So I am hoping and praying for my info later on today. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday at the University of Iowa! I know they're in good hands because this place fixed Caleb's feet. I know Clubfoot is nothing to compare to Cancer but I am just saying the the UIHC is a good place and I am positive that he will recover from this.
He has to!!!!
I wanna see and hold him again next year and I want him to meet his crazy cousins. I know he's a trooper and pull through this!

I am feeling super sad for my sister in law and her husband. I so wish I could be close by to support them! I can not even imagine what they must feel like! My heart is aching for them! I know they know that we're with them in their heart! We <3>

We had an outing today after staying yesterday.
The Weather was nice, we actually had like 61F here. So we enjoyed it =)

My Aunt called me today to let me know that she made an appointment for the twins to get there pictures taken at the kindergarten my uncle works at. That was really nice of her. They do take nice pictures. I just hope we will have a 'good' day because the last time we got there 1 year pictures taken it was HORRIBLE! So I am praying :)

Thursday we're back to the Mini Club. YAY! Granma will join us because we're starting to make lanterns for St. Martin, which is coming up in November. We're looking forward to the next 2 months =)

Marco Sky Longhorn Stroller

I believe I fell in love with this Stroller =) I was surfing the net for new strollers yesterday and came across this Marco Sky Longhorn Stroller. It is as big as a single stroller but fits 2 children. Seems perfect because here in Germany the stores sure are smaller than over in America, so we been having issues with our side-by-side Kolcraft Jeep Stroller, eventhough I loved it =) Since our current stroller is ready to retire we might going to invest into this Marco Sky Longhorn =) Me liking it hehehe

So we got the Chickenpox at our house. Caleb caught them somewhere. At first I thought it was mosquito bites but then it started to spread a little more so we brought them in to the doctors and yup, it's the chickenpox. But he must be having a mild case of it - hopefully thanks to vaccinations - because he only got like 7 in his face, 3 on one arm and 1 on the other and they don't seem to bother him at all. Woot! On top of it, he got a cold too. My poor baby. Connor probably will be getting the pox in a couple weeks but we'll be in Iowa then so my mom will take care of him. Connor got a cold too. Hope they will feel better soon. We've been kind of stuck here at home. Today we went for an endless walk and the twins were pooped - so was I =) Too bad we didn't take no pictures. I need to remember my camera much more. I should just carry it in my purse. I need a new one btw ;) Maybe for Christmas.

Otherwise this week hasn't been too thrilling. Monday we had Toddler Gym. My mom went with me and the boys love it. Caleb won't get to go this Monday but I will take Connor. I am really glad I decided to do this activity with the twins. I really have to take some pictures there too sometime. Or make a movie =)

Thursdays we go to the Mini Club. It's fun. This little boy celebrated his 2nd Birthday this last time and then we went downstairs to their gym to let the kiddos run and play. Connor seen this cart he can sit and and Dada pulled him. Caleb wanted to join him but Connor didn't want him too so okay, Caleb's turn was next. When Caleb was done, Connor wanted it again but other kids wanted to go in it too so no problem but Connor thought it was a big issue and he started throwing the biggest fit!!!!!! Laying on the floor, throwing his feet up in the air, arching his back and scream. OMG! Embarresing you ask??? Oh yea! You would've thought he's a single child and doesn't know how to share! Thankfully he eventually calmed back down when he was able to go into the cart again. Oh this child!!! But I love him =)

Later that Thursday night was when Caleb got diagnosed with Chicken pox. So I hope we didn't infected any of the kids at the Mini Club. I am praying. We'll see.......(This picture was taking at my aunts house, trying to be good boys)

Only 14 days left until we leave for Dubuque. I am excited yet really nervous about leaving the boys behind. I am just very afraid that something will happen to us and we will never see them again. I know I need to lay off that thought and I know we'll be fine. I am still going to write a Will! I hope everything will go fine at customs since I used to have a green card and now I am going back on a waiver visa. So scared. Knock on wood everything will go well and have a safe trip!
Jason and I are already making lists on what we need to buy over there. I hope I can find some Spongebob stuff for the boys or Barney books but most important Chicago Bears or Iowa Hawkeyes clothing. We also plan on buying some groceries to bring back with us like CakeMixes, Frosting, GrahamSquares Cereal, Saltine Crackers, FruitSnacks, Mt. Dew!!!!!, Turkey Stuffing for our Thanksgiving dinner and much more =) Thank god we can bring 4 suitcases each weighing 23lbs

The thing I am most excited for is to meet Drew! He's so cute and I can't wait to hold him. And to cuddle Dylan and Dakota again. I am so happy I am able to stay at their house the 8 days. Jason will be staying with his Mom. We'll see how this will work out with the rental car. So excited!

Sooooooooooo I am off to bed now. The nights seem to go by way to fast all the time. We'll be at my moms for supper tomorrow. I invited ourselves hahaha

My Sister took this super cute picture of Connor. My absolute favorite One! What a great shot!

Little Munchkin has been sick. On Friday we went to the doctors and he said he has fluid behind his eardrums but not an infection yet. So we started to give him nosedrops, I guess that's what they give you here if it's not infected yet. On Saturday he was having a temp of 101.5 and Sunday Morning still a temp of 101.6. More Tylenol and a few hours later it went down to 100.6. He still was so crabby and cuddly. Same as today. But he's starting to feel much better. We had to skip Toddler gym because he wasn't feeling well so we pick that up again next week.
Going back to the doctors tomorrow for Connor's check up and for Menningkokken immunizations. Woot! I hate shots. Gotta ask about the Flu shot this year. Maybe they're passing that one out yet too. We'll see.......<3

Potty Time and Drew =)

It's potty time at our House! I've been trying to potty train the boys here and there. They seem interested and sit very good on their potty but only one time out of 10 times we sit there they pee. So I think it'll be just a little bit yet until they ready ready for no more diapers.

My godson Drew is now 5 days old and such a cutie! We did Webcam with TJ the other night so we could see him and tonight we're suppose to do webcam with Nikki and TJ and Drew *yay* Looking forward to tonight! And looking even more forward to October 11th! Can't wait to hold the munchkin!

Today, no not just today, it's been going on for a few days now, I have been feeling so far away from Jason's family and my friends in Dubuque. You think well duh! Kay you're thousends and thousends of miles away in Germany but I mean I feel even further away then just there being miles in between. It's hard to explain.

I am feeling so sad about the fact that I won't be able to be there when my SIL's new baby is born and I won't get to see it until October. And then only for 8 days. *sigh*

I know it's my own fault by moving away from Dubuque to be here with my family but leaving Jason's family behind esp. some family members hurts still a lot. I am starting to feel disconnected. It's a sucky feeling and I know it's only gonna get worse when we come to visit in october.

But I just can't pack up everything here again after just 5 months and move back to nothing. People probably think well you should've never moved then but other then missing my family, some of my co workers, my truck and speaking english all day long I am not missing a whole lot. You know what I mean? I don't know I just feel sad because my other sister in law can be at the hospital with my SIL when she's having the baby. I guess you call that jealousy, huh? Don't know....

Some days I wonder, what it would be like if we'd still lived in Dubuque.

Would've Jason been able to go to first shift full-time so we would've not have a babysitter issue, or would I had to send the twins to daycare a couple times a week? Jason's mom watched the boys a lot in the end because my other mother-in-law started schooling for CNA and didn't have time anymore to watch them. But Jason's Mom was not able to watch them on certain days....So who knows?

How would've we dealt with Beanies closing and be out of about $500 a month. Would've that meant Jason needed a 2nd Job next to a full-time job (and he was only working p-t too) to make up for that $500 a months we were missing? It's out of question for me to work full-time again until my kids are 'grown-up'.

Would've we had health insurance ever again? At BK health insurance was way to expensive unless you maybe worked full-time plus OT and at MA if you're part-time health insurance was ridiculous expensive, so you would've had to work full-time to be able to afford it and not only work for your insurance.

Those are just a FEW things, I been thinking about on and off...I just seem to be able to let go and completely enjoy myself here. I just really miss Nikki (my SIL), my nephews Dakota and Dylan, Rachel and Evan...My ex-Co Workers...*sigh* I will miss out on the new baby that will be born on the 31st but I chose to move to Germany. I chose to resign from my job that I acutally liked, I chose to bring the twins to a country far away from their paternal family to be closer with
my family. I been thinking way too much and I wanna let go of my feelings but it's hard.

Maybe once Jason starts his class on monday (mo-fri 9.30a - 12p)and will learn german and is able to find a job and if I could find a part-time job working a couple days a week for the beginning and us having a car, it will make things easier here.

I am not necessary relying on my mom or sister to get to places but grocery shopping because the busses do run here a lot and around the clock but the twins hate long bus rides. A short trip to the mall - if we're not walking there - it's okay but past that it's already critical. So a car would be awesome to have but first we have our trip to Dubuque coming up in less than 2 months and then my goal for 2010 is our own car (an automatic lol). We are missing our Montero a lot. We have been seeing it all over here in Germany. It's crazy. It's like it's following us lol Here it's called Pajero instead of Montero. Strange huh? My favorite car as of right now is a Renault Seanic. Fits 3 carseats perfectly ;) We'll see....

Otherwise, Germany is been going good for us. Can't really complain, I guess =) Jason is in the progress of getting his teeth fixed, which he was never able to over there because it would've been soooo expensive even though we had dental insurance. So far we didn't pay a thing and he has gotten 3 wisdom teeth pulled, a root canal done and his front 3 teeth filled. He's really happy about it. I am glad!

We been doing a bunch of trips with my sister to the petting zoo, the regional airprt, the zoo, aquarium etc. Trying to keep the boys busy. I have been looking into signing the twins up for a playgroup (called miniclub for kids ages 1 1/2 - 2yrs) but it's kinda pricey. 50€ per child. So on monday I am going to call there and ask them what this group is all about and what they're doing there and maybe if they have like a twin discount haha My mom said it doesn't hurt to ask :) So maybe we'll sign up for it and have something to do and they get to know other kiddos. I do have some friends with kids their age but they're all girls, and the only boy is not a year quite yet. Bummer.
I can't wait for the twins to hopefully start kindergarten (which would be like pre-pre school in the USA) next summer. I enrolled them a few months ago. It's new here now that kids under 3 can get enrolled into kindergarten but then it depends on if there's a mom that needs this spot more than we do. It's not that we need it but I want the boys to start to interact more with other kids and go a few times a week just because, you know? I don't mind them starting it at age 3 but it would just be nice. So I keep my fingers crossed that it'll work out next year.

My mom will be moving by the end of the year. Kind of the bummer because we tried to move close by her and now she's moving on us. But it's a good opportunity for because it's a house for rent and really nice. It's not like we're going to live here in this apartment a long time. At least when there's a sign of Baby #3 I want to move to somewhere bigger.

Talking about Baby #3...I think I am going to not continue my BCP and will schedule an appointment with an OB/Gyn here in town and have her prescribe me metformin because I know without that it won't work. I WILL NOT take clomid this time around. At least that's what I say now. I don't wanna risk twins, triplets or more...just a singleton would be awesome. This all will take it's time. Going off the pill now, 3 months to clear it out your body (so now we're in november), it takes about 3-6months for metformin to adjust my body and hopefully get me ovulating which is my main problem. So by then we should be in 2010 and then 9 months to carry the baby. The twins will be 3 or over and I think it's time for #3 then. Sounds good? We'll see if my plan works that way. It took 2 long years to conceive the twins. So fingers crossed! :)

Caleb had a first check up with his new german ortho. He was very nice and he was super amazed that Caleb is coming straight from the 'source', Dr. Ponseti. He told his nurse as soon as she came back in. He said his feet are super good corrected and we should continue wearing the brace 14/7. No problem :) Made me very happy to hear that. They also use the Mitchell/Ponseti Brace instead of the Alfa-Flex Brace here now too. That made me even happier because now that means we don't have to order them from overseas and our insurance will pay for it Woohoo! Caleb's next check up on Dec, 1st. Looking forward to it...

Yes he sure is a PONSETI MIRACLE!!!!! I have sent pictures to the girls that organize the new 2010 Ponseti Fundraiser Calender and hopefully he'll make it into the Calender again like last year. Would be cool :)

Connor is been having really bad temper tantrums. Really bad I mean. Just today he had a melt down because he didn't get what he wanted. It's hard to deal with it esp. when people stare at you. Some days I am just clueless about what I should do...I just can't always give in, you know. So today we just walked away and he didn't get his way but he was screaming out of the top of his lungs and I didn't care. So hard and frustrating! I hope we'll get this issue under control soon! I mean the terrible twos didn't even start yet....ARGH!

In other note, I have been trying to attempt to potty train. The love sitting on the potty. When I ask them "You wanna go on the potty" The get up and wanna take the diapers off but then they just sit on it, and sit on it....lol...It's cute and we did have some success already. But nothing to really brag about. We are far away from being "trained" yet but we're on our way. (I have no pictures to share though, sorry). When we go to visit Dubuque, I will buy the boys spongebob undies because they love his so much. Maybe it will encourage them a little bit to go longer without peeing. But yet they really can't tell me in words that they have the urge to pee or poop but they point. We'll see....

Well I think this covers it all so far =) I want to put an afford in updating this blog much more than what I have been. So stay tuned for more of the twins =))))

Time for a post - nothing new and exciting happened though :)

We went for lunch at Hy-Vee today (I love their Chinese food). Today was the first time that Evan was awake for lunch. Usually when we go out for lunch he's sleeping it away :) I actually got some pictures taken today *go me* woohoo

After lunch we went for the mall for a quick shopping trip. It sucks, that Jason has to work when I am off that doesn't give us much time...Thankfully he is off tomorrow *yay* So we went to the Mall and I got to use my stroller again. I love it so much. It's so light it feels like you're pushing a single stroller.
I visited with Patty at the Vanity. I am excited to see what she's having. I believe she looks like she's carrying a girl. Who knows, she doesn't wanna find out :)
Then at the Finish Line they had Crocs on Sale...They had super cute ones for little kiddos there for $ 4.98, original $29.99. So I bought one with Spongebob and one pair with Thomas the Train, I wish they would've had 2 pairs of Spongebob but that's alright, the Thomas one is cute too...Here they are

Unfortunately the boys got really crabby and we lost another binkie under the shelves at the Finish Line so we decided to leave. I hate it when they act super crabby, but I guess the twins were tired. We got home and they slept til 5pm. So nice, I was able to get a nap too :) I should be sleeping right now because I have to work tonight at Beanies but I am not really tired.

So that was it for today, the twins and I had a good time at home. They're just so much fun but get into EVERYTHING. It is super annoying me that Caleb constanly is trying to get into the garbage can. He throws everything in it and he wants to pull everything out of it. So irritating. But he's a little boy and doesn't know better - yet!

Jason's birthday is coming up and I believe he's off that day as well as I am :) I decided that we will take the twins to the Riverboat Museum and Aquarium. So they been there at least once before we leave. I hope they will be interested at all.

On the 21st, my Coworkers and I are going out to eat at Eichman's *yum* I am excited but yet so sad because I will miss all of them so much. I bet I will never get to work with such a nice and funny kind of people ever again. I hope I will remember all of our fun times at work with Sheila. She had me laughing so hard on Thursday...Sheila, if you ever read this "Sister Mary Holy Water" should say it all :) LOL Oh it will be so hard and sad to say bye *sigh*

We only have 26 days left until we leave. Wow, how fast did time go by? I have to seriously get a package or two ready and try to sell more things. So much too do, so little time. Still have not really an idea what we're going to do with our truck. Thankfully, our tax refund is big enough to pay it off. Then we don't have to worry about making $400 payments from over there if we don't get it sold. Anybody interested in a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero? :)

Isn't it cute? I absolutely love it. They also got pack-n-plays, high chairs and bedding for us. If we get an apartment right away, we will also already have a kitchen (YES, you do have to bring your own kitchen when you move into an apartment or house BYOK lol), Couch and chair, TV and toys for the kiddos. I believe they have more already but I don't remember. Not bad, huh? They're getting ready for us. So exciting...

I am debating to take Caleb back to Iowa City for a check up because somehow I have the feeling that his right foot turns in, I don't know I might just be paranoid. Everytime I wanna put his brace on his right foot he gets extremely fussy and cries. I don't know if he just wants to be out of it and hates putting it back on or if his foot is turning in and it hurts him going into the brace. So over the weekend I will make a decision if we're going for a check up or I will just send an Email. I think I rather go for a check up. We're have issues with the brace anyway because the left side of the bar doesn't wanna stay in the shoe, so that'd be another concern before we leave. Hmmmm....

Well not much else to say right now :) So I am coming to an end for tonight...Here's my favorite picture of Evan like i promised...

I just finished reading this blog

CHARLIE AND CHELSEA'S BLOG

and I am sitting here sobbing. I feel so sad for this mom loosing her twin girls
to TTTTS (Twin-to-twin-transfusion Syndrome). It makes me realize how lucky I am to
have to healthy twins that I was able to carry to 38 weeks and that I didn't have
NO problems during my pregnancy. I wish this Mom would've been able to experience the same.
If her twins would've made it to their due date or 38weeks like me, her twins would've been
born in November 2007 just like Caleb and Connor!

I decided that starting today I will try to teach the twins how to spoon feed themselves. I gave them a yogurt for dessert today and let them go :)

Connor's try got really messy...he didn't quite get it :)

Caleb did great! He got it right away and didn't even want me to hold the cup for him so it wouldn't tip over...

Tomorrow I will try this with the actual supper. See how we're going to look after that :)

We went to the Little Folks Trading Post trying to find some 18 mos Jeans for the twins because I don't think I have any ( I would have to look through an already packed up suitcase) but unfortunately they didn't have any (can you believe that?) I kept looking around and I found an Iowa Hawkeyes shirt, an NFL footless PJ for Caleb and an ELMO musical toy. I though that'd be cute toy to take over with us, since ELMO is not popular at all in Germany. Caleb and Connor were fighting like crazy over that toy once we got home. I don't know why I still haven't learned, that when you have twins, you need to buy toys x2 :) After awhile I got them to share it with each other. Halleluja !

Last sunday I finally got my stroller sold YAY! The couple came from Davenport and immediately like it. I was so happy that I finally got rid off it, though I will miss it. I loved that stroller but there'd be no way we'd be able to take it back with us! no way!
So on monday I went on walmart.com and bought my new double stroller...a lightweight umbrella double stroller from jeep
I love it! We tested it at Toys'r us before and thought that'd be the stroller we need esp for at the airport. I am all excited to receive it. It should be at Wal-Mart to be picked up by end of next week. YAY! So exciting! :)

Today Jason's mom called and said that his Cousin and his wife will be moving out on their own pretty soon and that they'd be interested in buying some of our furniture and washer/dryer etc. from us. Jason talked to him and his aunt and I guess we got a deal going. I told Jason they have to give us at least half of the money buy mid febuary so that I won't sell it to someone else and then the rest by march 3rd.

We will be out of our apartment by march 4th. That they my dearest friend Jennifer (and possibly my friend Connie) will take us to Chicago, where we will queeze in a shopping spree at Woodfield Mall *woohoo* and then she'll take us to the Hotel we'll be staying the night before we're leaving.
The Hilton is located right at Terminal 1/ Chicago Ohare Airport. We'll be leaving out of Terminal 1 so this is just perfect for us. It might become an issue getting the luggage and stroller to the check-in but we'll manage that too :)

I can't believe I am saying this right now but I am actually getting excited to move...I know we will miss our family here esp. Nikki (we've grown so close since I moved here) and I will miss my crazy co-workers esp. Sheila, Connie, DeeDee, Chantel and Jennifer but this is just something that I have to do and hopefully I will start to feel a little happier again and I know how much my family wants US over there and see the rugrats grow up...So we gotta give it a try! I just hope that if we decided that it didn't work out and we'd like to move back here we'll have a lot of support to get us back on track over here...but that's far out into the future yet!
Within the next weeks I will go around with my camera (hopefully it will work good for me) and I will get pictures taken of the twins with everyone and my coworkers etc. We have only little over a month left...can't believe how close it is! I will miss everyone so much!
We're going to buy TJ and Nikki a WebCam so we can stay intouch through that. That's how my mom and I keep in touch currently, so hopefully it'll work with them just as good. :)

Jason's gotta work at Beanies tonight. I hate being home alone over night. I can't sleep well when he's not here. So it's gonna be a rough night....urgh!

Well, I am off to write an Email to my friend in Germany.

We don't get out much when Jason is at work so yesterday I decided it's time to change that. We went out to lunch with Nikki, Dakota, Dylan, Rachel, Matt, Evan, Jason, Caleb, Connor and I. A lot of people, huh? Most of them were kids hahahaha... We went to Culvers. I don't really care for that place but it's alright. Afterwards I took Jason to work and Nikki, Rachel and I and kids went to the mall. Thank god for Younkers Double stroller lol I forgot mine at home...Well not really forgot but we never really put it back in the truck yet lol

Connor was just always so smilie when I tried to take a picture, Caleb wouldn't let me - again. He would look and the moment the picture would take, he'd turn his head and the picture got crappy. Oh how irritating....

I didn't buy nothing. Though I found a pair of cute black pants at Deb's and I think I might going to get it this weekend. It was $24.99 so I hope I will do good in tips this weekend working for Amanda on Saturday morning. lol I hate the beginning of the month. Too many things due at the
same time! Hate it!

Like at 5p we decided to go the play area and let the boys play until TJ gets off of work and picks up Dakota and Dylan - in the meanwhile Nikki went to work and Rachel and I watched Dakota and Dylan. Caleb and Connor had lots of fun at the play area.

They loved the slide until Connor was going down the slide and slipped a little bit and that kinda scared him, after that he said away from it lol at least wouldn't go down it

Here Dakota is helping Connor up the Slide...Oh how much Connor loves playing with Dakota. How are we going to explain Dakota that we'll be moving. That's gonna be so sad....Oh don't wanna think about that yet.

After we were done at the mall I drove home to change Caleb, he was a little soaked. I never really thought about taking extra diapers because I thought we were only going for lunch lol. After Caleb was all cleaned up and changed I took the twins to my work. Oh man were they shy. Well I guess they were tired but in the end they walked and laughed a little bit :)

Then it was finally time to pick up Daddy from work at 8p and we decided to drive by Aunt Nikkis work to see about supper. We all decided we'd go to the Village Inn (Man our eating out needs to stop). It was pretty good and Dakota was all excited, he loves the Village Inn. Afterwards we got to check out Nikkis new SUV (a Honda Pilot). She had to upgrade from her Accord due to Baby # 3 on the way. YaY - thinking pink! lol no more boys please :)
We took a trip to their house to check out their new TV. Love it. I wish I had that kind of money lol Connor was playing with this baby toy and when I took it away because we were getting ready leave he was just bawling so Nikki gave it back to him to take home and man was Dakota devestated about. It was his favorite toy. lol Hope he got over it.

Well we finally got home at 10p and the twins went to bed. I got out of going the funeral today, well it's only a wake service. Woot!

So my sister is online. gotta go!
